The Spring Kitchen

When decorating my primitive kitchen for spring one of the first things I think of is keeping open those windows! Let that fresh air and sunshine come streaming through and you'll be glad winters come to an end.
This is something I did for the spring but actually can be done at any other time of the year. I hung an old market sign I found at a garage sale over my kitchen sink.
First I drilled two holes on either side right at the top of the sign. I then put in 2 eye hooks. Place 2 eye hooks right underneath where you're going to hand your sign from.
You can then use any size chain and just attach from the sign to underneath your cabinet.
You could also hang this sign right from the ceiling adjusting the chain to any length you want. A pair of regular pliers should open the links without too much trouble. Again, use a couple of eye hooks, preferably ones a little on the large size to hold the weight of the sign.
Because the sign blocks some of the window all I did was hang a couple of bamboo blinds and added a valance!
I still have the light coming through and an inexpensive way to add a "spring" touch to my primitive kitchen.
Fill any kind of primitive basket with old utensils such as egg beaters, cheese graters and old potatoe peelers. I just love the look of old utensils so put them out where they can be seen!
