Simple Dish Rags

Since we're all trying to get back to the simpler life, I thought I'd give you a pattern for a simple knitted dish rag for your primitive kitchen.  These work up so quickly, you can easily have one for every day of the week.  Just throw in the washer and dryer and they're good as new.  The directions are as follows:

         SUPPLIES:

  • Number 6 short knitting needles
  • 100% cotton yarn, 4 ply
  • Crochet hook to weave in ends

Cast on 4 stitches

Knit 1 row

Next row, knit 2, yo, knit to end of row

Continue to repeat the (K2,  YO,  K until end of row) until you have a total of 45 stitches on the needle.

Next row, K1, K2together, YO, K2together, knit to end of row.

Continue to do the (K1, K2together, YO, K2together, knit to end of row, decreasing each row until you have 5 stitches left on the needle.

Next row, K2, K2together, K1

Bind off the remaining 4 stitches.

Weave in loose ends with crochet hook (any size will do)

These dish cloths will outlast any store bought dish towel out there.
