Decoupaged Lampshade

This is a fun project to do!

First, select a vintage clip-art photo to copy. If you google "vintage clip-art photos" you can go to a site at Public Domain Images and pick from a large variety of beautiful vintage photos.

Once you've found one you like, copy it and print it out on your computer. You can also change the size to fit your lampshade. Just adjust the dimensions on your computer.

Next, cut out the photo, coming as close to the actual photo as possible without cutting into it.

Once it's cut out place it on the lampshade it the exact spot you want it. This project works best using an off-white or white plain lampshade.

Next, using decoupage glue (or Elmer's glue works just as well), brush over the entire picture until it is entirely covered. Make sure you cover the edges really well. Cover with one thin layer of decoupage and let dry. Repeat 2-3 more times letting the glue dry completely between applications.

When this is done, take a piece of lace and hot glue (or use fabric glue) to attach the lace around the outer edge of the photo.

You can do only one side of the lampshade or front and back. My lampshade had 4 sides so I did all four, but it's entirely up to you.

This is a picture of the lampshade I made to give you an example.

There you have it! A wonderful primitive lampshade that is very easy and inexpensive to make!
